From day one, you will take on significant responsibility and have the freedom to make key decisions for our trading deals. The instant market feedback combined with feedback from the team, helps you rapidly excel at navigating the ever-evolving energy sector.
Here’s what the job entails
In the role, your primary focus will be to trade within the short-term European gas markets.
More specifically, your responsibilities include:
- optimising our asset portfolio in the short-term markets
- participating in shift rotations for our 24/7 trading operation
- participating in our dispatching duties, including scheduling gas flows and trades
Meet your team
You will join our Short-Term Gas Trading & Operations team dedicated to maximising value within the (sometimes very) volatile short-term gas markets. We blend a data-driven approach with an efficient setup that integrates trading and operations, which positions us to capture opportunities and restore energy balances close to delivery. We trade around the clock, every day of the year, and are always looking to grow our presence in natural gas — and backed by Equinor, we have the necessary financial capacity to enter new markets.
We are a committed team of highly skilled specialists; traders with an eye for results, analysts with innovative approaches to data and automation as well as tech-savvy developers working side-by-side with the business. We are recognised for our great team spirit and efficient collaboration, which are key to running a 24/7 setup smoothly, as we rely on each other every step of the way.
But enough about us… over to you!
We are looking for someone who takes a big-picture approach when solving problems and is able to spot opportunities in the market while also managing the associated risks. Since the team handles all kinds of tasks and we always have each other’s backs, we picture you as someone who stays positive and is ready to pitch in and tackle anything that comes up.
Furthermore, we imagine that you:
- have some experience in the field or are a recent graduate from a relevant educational background within Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Physics or similar
- are proficient in English – both written and verbal
Please note that prior knowledge of the energy sector is not required for this role.
