Here’s what the job entails
As Junior Business Controller, you will support the controlling of our asset portfolios in the European energy markets. You will gain hands-on experience with financial controlling, data analysis and process optimisation, while gradually building the skills needed to take ownership of controlling activities for a smaller business area.
More specifically, your responsibilities include:
supporting P&L and settlement calculations as well as month-end closing activities
working with large datasets and investigating differences or unexpected results
using SQL, VBA and Power BI to analyse data and improve controlling tools
helping to automate and optimise processes within controlling, invoicing and accounting
developing reports and analyses that increase transparency and support decision-making
collaborating with experienced controllers and stakeholders across finance and business
Meet your team
You will join our Controlling & Operations team, where we act as partners for our trading teams operating on the customer side of our business, including batteries, wind and solar parks. One of our key responsibilities is calculating P&L for these teams and ensuring an accurate month-end close. We analyse and report on P&L and other financial figures, work with large datasets, handle customer settlements, and develop and maintain the tools and code that enable efficient and reliable execution.
We are a team of committed and quality-minded controlling specialists focused on continuously improving our processes, tools and ways of working. As a student employee, you will work closely with experienced colleagues, receive ongoing sparring and gradually take on more responsibility. Our team is diverse, with colleagues from around the world, and we have created a welcoming and supportive work environment.
But enough about us… over to you!
Since you will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation, we are looking for someone who enjoy working with others, communicating insights and finding solutions together. You should take an analytical, structured and curious approach to data and problem-solving, and be motivated to learn about financial controlling in practice.
We also imagine that you:
are currently studying a relevant education within economics, finance, business or a related field
are interested in financial controlling, process improvement and working with large datasets
have some experience with, or are curious to learn, SQL, VBA, Power BI or similar analytical tools
are interested in using technology, automation and AI tools where relevant to improve processes and create insights from data
can work approx. 10-15 hours a week
are proficient in English, both written and spoken – and let us know if you speak any additional languages
Please note that prior knowledge of the energy sector is not required for this role.
